Lexus' most popular and understated sedan moves into 2016 with a styling refresh that brings a bolder version of the brand's spindle grille, standard LED headlights, upgraded interior finishes and a new available suite of driver assistance technologies.
The ES' powertrains are carried over from 2016, and include a 3.5L V6 in the ES 350 that makes 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque, and in the ES 300h, a 2.5L four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a combined 200 hp and 156 lb-ft (from the gas engine alone). The ES 350 uses a six-speed automatic transmission, and the ES 300h a continuously variable (CVT) automatic.
Fuel consumption ratings are 11.4/7.6 L/100 km (city/highway) for the ES 350 and 5.8/6.1 for the ES 300h.
Standard features include intelligent keyless entry with push-button start, garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, park assist, 10-way power heated and ventilated front seats, eight-speaker stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, remote touch interface, Bluetooth, 17-inch wheels, drive mode selector, LED headlights and foglights, and heated side mirrors with turn signal repeaters.
A Touring package adds navigation, heated steering wheel with power tilt-and-telescope adjustment, leather seats, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, backup camera and rain-sensing wipers.
The Executive package brings 18-inch wheels, 15-speaker stereo, premium leather seats with driver adjustable thigh support, sunroof, power trunk, lane departure alert, pre-collision system, radar cruise control and automatic high beams.
Base pricing is $41,900 for the ES 350, and $44,700 for the ES 300h.
